Sounds Familiar @ Lauwer, The Hague, NL (solo exhibition!)

I’m a terrible person not updating this blog very often…. but I’m giving it my best shot, again. But hey, here’s some great news! This Saturday, tomorrow!, on the 7th of September my solo show Sounds Familiar will open at Lauwer gallery in The Hague, NL!!

With works I made during my stay at the Aria Residency in Iran, works I made as a follow-up of my stay in Iran, some soft weapons and some naked bums. Plenty of art for all!

From 24th June – 8th July 2018, open every day between 12.00h – 20.00h.

This exhibition is meant to give an idea of the variety of aspects in video and film. Three works include DPRK, a monumental documentary by Joyce Overheul made during her trip to North Korea, Treelogy, a series of interventions by Nuni Weisz and a collection of Encounters by Anita Horváth. All artists have a different cultural/artistic background and use the camera in a completely different manner.
On Sunday 8th of July there will be a “finissage” with an artists’ gathering.

Artist talk @ Museum Meermanno, The Hague

Sunday the 28th of January I held an artist talk at Museum Meermanno, The Hague. My project on the 17yo Rogier has been part of their exhibition The Art of Reading (De kunst van het lezen).

Curator Paul van Capelleveen wrote a blog entry about the afternoon:

The Art of Reading is on view until the 4th of March this year.

Last Saturday I finished shooting documentation material in The Hague for my website and a new performance video.

I’d like to thank all the amazing performers and their efforts, without them it would be impossible to make the documentation of the performance itself a success!!

The video of the performance will be shown for the first time at the BYOB (next Thursday in Utrecht, see this blog post).

For now, here’s a sneak peek!

Special thanks goes to: Jowi Kemper, Heekyung Ryu, Giovanni Maisto Ferreira, Michiel Tollig, Mandy Chaigneau, Ilona Schipper, Marisa Conde, Vincent Baeza Parra, Ken Bridgen, Jolanda Jansen, Sarah Atzori, Alessandro, Herwin Zweers
